US Air Force and Costa Rican SVA Achieve Key Firsts During Joint Training Mission

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (February 2026) – 571 MSAS Air Advisor pilot Capt. Valentin Garcia and U.S. Air Force sensor operator Senior Master Sgt. Robert Bonugli confer with their Costa Rican Servicio de Vigilancia Aérea (SVA) counterparts prior to stepping to the aircraft for the first joint U.S.–Costa Rica intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) training sortie. The mission marked a milestone in bilateral interoperability and strengthened shared airborne ISR capability in support of U.S. Southern Command objectives.
