Mr. Lee Pittman, deputy, Special Missions Division at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, writes notes during a discussion as part of the Future of Expeditionary Skills Training working group held at the US Air Force Expeditionary Center July 15. The group reviewed options and made recommendations on the way forward for Airmen expeditionary skills. The working group was the culmination of ongoing planning and was convened to update the structure for guiding expeditionary skills training in the future and develop the recommendations for training and maintaining skills that have previously been taught through training programs funded by contingency funds provided for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. As the Air Force makes plans beyond contingency funding and towards steady state training funded by the service, the working group was charged with recommending which expeditionary skills the Air Force should deem critical enough to continue training and ultimately include in its top line budget.(U.S. Air Force graphic/Brad Camara)
